Data Governance Lead, APAC

One of our Global Client is currently looking to hire a regional leader to head their Data Governance team based in Hong Kong.

  • Understand external regulatory and competitive landscape within APAC and the potential impact on the firm
  • Collaborate with the broader Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) teams.
  • Respond to the evolving data regulatory environment in APAC, and timely issue compliance opinions to country and global leadership team, to update internal guidelines and policies accordingly
  • Actively engage all relevant regulators, to ensure precise interpretation of local data regulations and a level playing field in APAC. Answer regulator inquiries and receive regulator visit when required
  • Provide compliance training to teams in the APAC region both systematically and from time to time
  • Manage the Business as Usual (BAU) work for APAC, which includes resolving issues and providing advice in line with Data Governance Policies & Procedures, supporting Global Data Owners, and completing administrative tasks having to do with Privacy Impact Assessments and vendor on-boarding related to data
  • Monitor the effectiveness of internal policy, process and controls required to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements within the APAC region
  • Accountable for leveraging needed resources to ensure business terms and definitions pertaining to APAC platforms and systems are captured and governed within Enterprise Data Governance tool. This would be done in partnership with the Data Owners
  • Collaborate with key global partners (e.g. Legal, Security, Compliance etc) to ensure cross functional alignment on APAC data related initiatives
  • Represent APAC in EDG’s efforts to modernize Enterprise Data Governance within APAC and support regional compliance efforts
